For me Valentine's day has always been like a final exam, and I just passed it for the 33rd time.I think it is the ultimate challenge for a retail florist,as the volume can be 20 times a regular business day.Demand is so much higher and there is only so much of the fresh and quality flowers available, only so much time and so many people available that can help you in such a short time.I always get really excited and not get much sleep and do a lot of planning to prepare for this day.
Making sure that there are enough containers, enough greenery, enough filler and enough this and that and not too much extra as everything cost so much more and you don't want to get stuck with stuff. If it falls in the middle of the week, there are so many more deliveries to businesses around downtown and you just have to send 2 people
on deliveries as parking is almost impossible and being in the middle of winter, weather can play a big factor and then on top of it,you need to get extra space for the extra flowers.Challenges and details are many, but you know what, when you get through it successfully,it is a great feeling of relief and accomplishment.
I can not wait till next year and of course we have mother's day coming in a couple of months, which is another grand event but more manageable.
